Patron Saint

A saint regarded as the special protector or guardian of a country, place, or group of people.

Explanation

Each of the four UK nations has its own patron saint and celebrates a patron saint's day. These days are important cultural celebrations, though not all are public holidays.

Example

St George is the patron saint of England, celebrated on 23rd April.
